
In 2024, WFP assisted around 21.5 million food-insecure
people across the Middle East, Northern Africa, and
Eastern Europe region, achieving 82 percent of its
annual target - a drop of nearly half compared to 2023
actual beneficiaries with many receiving reduced
rations. In 2025, WFP aims to assist 24.9 million
people, 5 percent below than the 2024 annual target.

WFP assisted 3.7 million refugees across the region,
exceeding its 2024 target of 2.5 million.

Acute food insecurity remains severe across the region,
with 40 million people in IPC Phase 3 or above (crisis
or worse). The region is projected to continue to face
high levels of acute food insecurity in 2025.

The region's needs-based plan was revised during the
year from USD 7.1 billion to USD 5.6 billion, with a
funding level of 73 percent. In 2024, 61 percent of
contributions were earmarked at the activity level, with
only 5 percent being fully flexible.
