Climate change is a long-term threat to food security and
nutrition. By 2050, the risk of hunger and malnutrition
could rise by 20 percent if the global community fails to
act now to mitigate and prevent the adverse effects of
climate change. The majority of child deaths expected to
occur as a result of climate change will be driven by
undernutrition. Co-developed by the Nutrition and Climate
Change Divisions, this brief provides an overview on the
links between climate change and nutrition and why WFP
should take action now to mitigate and prevent the adverse
effects.
