In 2022, a pilot project in Lesotho introduced
energy-efficient Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs) in
five schools. The project aimed to assess the
feasibility of using EPCs in schools and found that they
were compatible with existing power infrastructure,
saved money on cooking costs, and reduced food waste.
The project also found that EPCs were faster and safer
than other cooking options. Based on these findings, the
researchers believe that EPCs could be scaled up to
provide clean cooking to 360,000 children in Lesotho.
