In the first quarter of 2023 (January-March), rainfall patterns in Indonesia were mostly within the normal range compared to the average rainfall recorded over the past 30 years. The triple-dip La Niña phenomenon, which persisted for three consecutive years since 2020, has finally ended. However, the ENSO index is expected to gradually shift towards an El Niño phase in the second semester of 2023 with forecast that most provinces in Indonesia will experience an earlier onset of the dry season.
